New studies show detrimental effects on students who liberally use generative AI in their studies.

ChatGPT has rapidly infiltrated educational circles and caused quite a bit of panic and debate in schools. Some teachers are scrambling for reliable ways to detect AI-generated content, while others have advocated for its inclusion into curricula. New data from researchers suggest that using ChatGPT is linked to lower test scores among high school students. At least one other academic study found that college students who used AI chatbots were likely to "develop tendencies for procrastination and memory loss and dampen the students’ academic performance."

Parents and educators, AI has many good uses, but it is not helping our children learn or think—that's our job.
